DESIGN

Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro Review

The smartphone design is yet the same as its existing smartphones, which seems that the customers will have to wait for Asus to launch a smartphone with a borderless display. But, still, the borders of the smartphone have been shaved down a bit. The phone is of size 6.85mm, which makes it slim enough with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The body of the smartphone is of metal and the sides are slightly slippery.

Biggest disadvantage of the display is that it’s not great under sunlight even with the brightness turned to maximum.

PERFORMANCE

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro’s general performance is good since it comes with a fast chipset. The interface of the smartphone is smooth enough and handles multitasking well. With extensive camera use, the metal body does heat up quickly. However, this time the company has tuned to ZenUI 4.0 which avoids lags and stutters on the devices.

Most games on the smartphone run well since the multimedia playback is handled well enough. The fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button and is quick at authentication.

The software supporting the smartphone handles high-resolution video files well and also supports high-resolution audio. Audio quality is also good.

CAMERA

As mentioned above, the front dual camera is the main game changer. But, is the camera really a game charger for this smartphone? Well, the answer to this question is NO. The smartphone does not actually come with 24-megapixel front camera. One of the cameras comes with a 12 MP Sony IMX362 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a pixel size of 1.4 microns whereas the other is a 5 MP Omnivision sensor wit a 120-degree field of view. If you may more attention, you will notice the Duo Pixel along with 24-megapixel resolution and that is because of the shooting mode which stimulates a 24-megapixel sensor (it’s only when you switch the Duo Pixel mode).

However, the selfies taken in the standard mode have better details and colors. The Duo Pixel mode, details are generally softer and bright areas are overexposed pretty badly in daylight shots. But, the noise is handled well due to the large aperture and pixel size.

The rear camera is a 16-megapixel camera and does a good job in daylight with detailed landscapes and macros, unlike the front camera. The rear camera takes much better shots than the front camera even in low light

BATTERY

The smartphone comes with a 3000mAh battery. The battery manages to operate the smartphone for 9 hours and 53 minutes. The smartphone manages to work a full day on a single charge. The charger provided by the company is a 10W charger which takes 2 hours to charge the phone. It does not support fast charging.

VERDICT

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is an amazing phone as promised by the company. It is a good choice for selfie lovers at a price of Rs 23,999. The smartphone processes the photos fast due to the software and you don’t get any blur images due to lack of focus. The Asus self-made SuperPixel engine handles processing well and the software aspects of the camera. You may appreciate the 4K recording support with the front camera. The phone looks much leaner and a well-built body. The smartphone offers great performance and is definitely a smart pick.
